Custom drum heating cabinets for small or limited spaces

Drum Heating Cabinets: how to solve the problems of limited spaces

In many industrial processes it is essential to safely preserve/keep raw materials at specific temperatures, for them to be processed properly at a later stage of the process. For over 30 years, at Amarc we have been creating drum heating cabinets  for heating treatment operations of drums or IBC tanks developed horizontally (1 level) or vertically (up to 3 levels) even at a high level of customisation.

Thermal Treatment Heat Chambers

Heat chambers for thermal treatments must offer a clean and safe solution and must not hinder work within the company; they must guarantee constant thermal efficiency and maximum safety. There are numerous problems converning (heating) chambers for heating treatment operations and one of the biggest is related to the space used for the machinery.

For example, there is often a need to install high-capacity drum heating cabinets to heat a large number of drums or IBC tanks. Not all industrial companies can count on such large spaces and the installation of an overly bulky system risks hindering the safe handling of materials. To solve this problem we have several solutions, such as vertical development heat chambers (up to 3 levels)

Vertical Development Thermal Treatment Heating Chambers

In the presence of workplaces that are particularly limited in terms of size, to solve the problem of spaces, in addition to creating classic solutions with horizontal development, we design and install drum heating cabinets for heating treatment operations with vertical development, which are capable of significantly reducing the overall space and leaving adequate space for the safe handling of materials in the workplace. We can also separate the different units of the cabinet with independent openings, to avoid unnecessary heat loss, and install sliding doors for each unit, further improving the management of spaces, so as to work well and safely.

Let’s take the example of a customer, a company that produces paints, whose requirement was to process their products at +120°C in a space limited in width. The solution of our technical team was to create a heating chambers developed vertically over 3 levels, significantly reducing the overall space required. In addition, to avoid excessive heat loss, the cabinet was equipped with 2 doors – instead of just one – designed with a removable tank at the base of the cabinet prepared for loading by forklift.

Standard solution or custom drum heating cabinets?

Each work situation is unique; in order to be able to obtain maximum efficiency with the minimum amount of space, a specific study of the work environment is necessary. However, in decades of activity, we have developed and tested a wide range of standard heating chambers, which are capable of satisfying a large portion of the market:

  • Drum Heating Cabinets from 4 to 48 drums of 200 litres.
  • Drum Heating Cabinets from 1 to 12 1,000-litre IBC tanks.
  • Possibility of dividing the cabinet into two or more independent zones, single zone or multi-zone, capable of simultaneously heating different products at different temperatures.
  • Different loading modes available, on one or more levels.

On the other hand, there are more complex situations that require additional design effort, due to technical needs or space reasons. For all these situations, we are able to develop custom  drum heating cabinets, customisable in every detail. In fact, our philosophy is indeed to accompany you during all phases of the project, searching together with you for the best possible technical solution.

High-capacity drum heating cabinets with 96 drums and sliding doors

We recently collaborated with a customer who required a customised thermal system with a high capacity (90/100 drums) capable of minimising space and with specific anti-seismic properties, due to the location of the installation (Emilia Romagna).

AMARC specialists therefore designed a multifunctional thermal chamber composed of two autonomous units. Each unit was built with a maximum capacity of 48 drums of 200 litres or 12 IBC tanks of 1,000 litres. To solve space-related challenges, we installed manually operated sliding doors, effectively increasing the space available for operations.

Our customised thermal chamber has also been equipped with two distinct adjustment zones, managed by a Siemens PLC with different functions. In response to anti-seismic needs, our technicians carried out meticulous structural calculations and built the system according to the required specifications, providing the customer with all the necessary documentation.

Once the design was completed, the AMARC team assisted the customer during the transport, loading, assembly – both mechanical and electrical –, start-up and training phases.

Amarc boasts an extensive portfolio of customised projects, all of which can be consulted on our website.
